Our Approach to Vein Care
At Elmore Medical, we believe in putting patients first. Our practice is not about performing procedures—it's about taking care of people we care about. This philosophy guides everything we do, from your initial consultation to your follow-up care.
✔ Patient-Centered Care
We offer a full spectrum of vein treatments, including:
Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT), Sclerotherapy, Varithena - Transcatheter Sclerotherapy (TCT), Microsurgery, Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy, Ambulatory Phlebectomy
✔ Comprehensive Treatment Options
Unlike general medical practices that treat a wide range of conditions, our specialists focus exclusively on vein treatments. This specialization allows us to provide expert care that general practices simply cannot match.
✔ Specialized Expertise
We employ state-of-the-art diagnostic technology, including Duplex Ultrasound Imaging (DUS), to measure the size, speed, and direction of blood flow in the veins. Exemplifying our commitment to quality, we employ the only full-time, Registered Vascular Technologists (RVTs) in the Central Valley dedicated solely to venous disease.
✔ Advanced Diagnostic Technology
Varicose Vein Treatments
Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT)
This revolutionary therapy is the best available treatment for large bulging varicose veins. Through a single needle stick, a fine laser fiber is inserted into a varicose vein. Laser energy generates heat that seals the vein closed, redirecting blood flow to healthy veins.
Key Benefits:
Minimally invasive procedure
Performed under local anesthesia
Quick recovery time (most patients resume normal activities within 24 hours)
Excellent success rate (our center has achieved the highest success rate ever reported in medical literature)
Creates minimal and often imperceptible scars
Varithena - Transcatheter Sclerotherapy (TCT)
Varithena is a prescription medicine we use to treat varicose veins caused by problems with the great saphenous vein (GSV) and related veins in the GSV system. While duplex ultrasound imaging demonstrates the abnormal veins, the doctor closes them with a specialized sclerotherapy technique.
Key Benefits:
Non-surgical approach
Treats the underlying vein problems
Minimal downtime
Effective for various types of varicose veins
Can be used in conjunction with other treatments
Microsurgery
Vastly different from traditional vein stripping surgical procedures, microsurgery utilizes special instruments to remove veins through very tiny "micro" incisions. The incisions are so small that with normal healing, they can scarcely be found on the leg.
Key Benefits:
Significantly less invasive than traditional vein stripping
Only tiny incisions are required
Minimal scarring
Faster recovery compared to traditional surgery
Effective for certain types of varicose veins
Spider Vein Treatments
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is the most effective method of treating the majority of spider veins. An irritating (sclerosing) solution is injected directly into the vein through a tiny micro needle. The vein closes, and then disappears with normal healing. This has been a well-accepted method of treating varicose veins for over 50 years and has now become the gold standard in spider vein treatment. Learn More About Sclerotherapy
Ideal for:
Cosmetic leg veins
Facial spider veins
Hand veins
Key Benefits:
No downtime required
Minimal discomfort during treatment
Gradual improvement over several weeks
Long-lasting results
Multiple areas can be treated in one session
Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy
For veins that aren't visible on the surface or that connect to deeper vein systems, we use ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy. This technique allows us to precisely target veins beneath the skin's surface that contribute to visible spider veins.
Key Benefits:
Treats underlying causes of visible veins
Precise targeting of problem veins
Reduces risk of recurrence
Complements traditional sclerotherapy
Increased effectiveness for certain vein types
Diagnostic Services
Duplex Ultrasound Imaging
Duplex ultrasound imaging (DUS) is an essential part of the initial diagnostic evaluation. This state-of-the-art technology is utilized to measure the size, speed, and direction of blood flow in the veins.
Exemplifying our commitment to quality, we employ the only full-time, Registered Vascular Technologists (RVTs) in the Central Valley dedicated solely to venous disease. Our technicians will use a small hand-held device called a transducer placed against the affected area to produce onscreen images that help us define each patient's specific venous anatomy prior to recommending treatment.
Benefits of Advanced Diagnostics:
Non-invasive and painless
Provides detailed images of vein structure and function
Helps identify underlying vein issues not visible on the surface
Guides treatment recommendations
Enhances treatment precision and outcomes

Frequently Asked Questions
-
The best treatment depends on several factors, including the type and location of your veins, your symptoms, and your medical history. Our specialists will recommend the most appropriate options after a thorough evaluation.
-
Most patients experience minimal discomfort during and after treatments. We use local anesthesia for procedures like EVLT, and sclerotherapy typically causes only a mild burning sensation that subsides quickly.
-
Results vary by treatment:
EVLT results can be seen immediately with continued improvement over several weeks
Sclerotherapy results develop gradually over 2-6 weeks after treatment
Multiple sessions may be needed for optimal results, especially for spider vein treatments
-
Most vein treatments require minimal downtime:
EVLT patients typically return to normal activities within 24 hours
Sclerotherapy patients can resume normal activities immediately
Compression stockings may be recommended for a period of time after treatment
-
Once a vein is successfully treated, it will not return. However, new veins may develop over time. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help reduce the risk of developing new vein issues.
